Our building, located at 201 West Lancaster Ave in Shillington, PA has a rich history dating back to the 1920’s.
The building was originally founded by Charles Rhoades & Sons in 1917. The building was used as an auto dealership with included a full service garage on the basement level.
In 1940 a small section of the building was separated to create space for a pub called the Phillips Cafe. At this time the building still housed automobiles (but was not a dealership) and working service garage in the basement level.
In 1960 Charley’s Auto Parts took over the primary space and in 1976, the R&R Cafe was founded. In 1978 the pub was sold to the Chapman family (Chappy’s) was later turned into Henry’s Racer Cafe.
1999 Ken Rotherberger purchased the building and the pub which became 201 West. In 2012, the pub was expanded and remodeled to increase bar area and include outdoor seating.
In 2016, 201 West is one of the Reading, PA premier fine dining establishments. Serving American Eclectic cuisine, the restaurant prides itself on our food quality. Everything is made in-house including all our rolls, salad dressings, desserts, and more.
The atmosphere in 201 West reminds us of Cheer’s, where “everybody knows your name”. We are proud to be in Shillington and welcome you to visit our establishment.
